Caleb and Jeanne's journey to foster care started in Louisiana, where they were licensed as foster parents. But a global pandemic, hurricane, and new ministry position brought them to the Lone Star State before they had a chance to care for any kids.

They moved in with Jeanne's mom while they searched for a home of their own. Home prices rose steeply and fast — and it was discouraging. Caleb had a good job, but finding the right home for their growing family — and holding onto their dream of fostering — felt like a lot to carry at once. Still, they didn't give up.

Then God opened a door they hadn't expected.

Their new congregation had deep ties to Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services (PCHAS), and several long-time employees were active members of the church. These new friends told Caleb and Jeanne about PCHAS's Foster Care & Adoption program — and about something truly unique: The Foster Care Village in Itasca, Texas.

The Foster Care Village is a neighborhood built specifically for foster families. PCHAS provides spacious homes, excellent amenities, and customized support. Foster families provide nurturing care that children in the system desperately need. For Caleb and Jeanne, it was a perfect fit.

They completed all the licensing requirements in less than five months, moved into their home at The Foster Care Village, and were approved to foster with PCHAS in July 2021. Eight days later, they welcomed the first sibling pair of children, and they haven’t looked back.

Maybe you've been holding onto a dream of fostering, too. We'd love to help you take the next step. Here are some ways to connect:
