If you've never seen Take A Chance on Me by our friends at The Archibald Project, you need to. Darrien, Miranda and Travis' story is important. It is hard but also encouraging, and Darrien's journey is similar to that of the more than 3,000 Texas teens in foster care right now who aren't living with relatives. They need someone to take a chance on them, too. *Spoiler alert – you may need to grab some tissues.*
In the courtroom, you heard Miranda say, “…today we just set in stone what we’ve already known, but I do want to make you a few promises. Darrien, I promise to always relentlessly pursue your heart, even when you try to hide it. I promise to be on your side and fight for you always. I promise to continue to sit in the hard stuff and to celebrate the good with you for the rest of your life. …and lastly, of course, I promise again to never ever stop loving you just as much as I do at this very moment.”
We honor the foster and adoptive families that step toward kids needing families and vow to love them and pursue their hearts. Every youth in foster care deserves to be known and loved in the life-changing way that Miranda and Travis have given themselves to Darrien.
The best part is that it doesn't take a highly-trained professional to make an impact. Travis and Miranda have helped Darrien change the plotline in his story through their love, commitment and desire to connect to his heart fully.
If this is the way you love your family and friends, we want to get to know you. Connect with a Foster Care & Adoption Guide at 281-324-0544 or fosteradopt@pchas.org or join an Online Info Session to learn more.
