Many people think about fostering or adopting but aren’t sure they meet the requirements or worry they don’t have “what it takes.” At PCHAS, we’re not trying to find “perfect” parents; we’re looking for people who are willing to join a child’s story and become the safe, loving, nurturing family they need.
When you contact PCHAS, you’ll connect with a Foster Care & Adoption Guide and talk through the basic qualifications. You need to be at least 21 years old; physically, mentally, and emotionally able to meet the needs of children; financially stable; and respectful of a child’s cultural heritage and religious beliefs. More details are on our website.
Every child is unique, which means we need many different types of families. So, we work with people who are single, married, divorced or widowed; experienced or first-time parents; working, retired, or somewhere in between; and homeowners or renters.
The most important aspects of the place you call home are safety and space. You’ll need to pass a fire and health inspection, but we’ll help you prepare. Your home’s size will need to be a good fit for the number of people in your home. Every child must have their own bed to sleep in, but kids are allowed to share bedrooms.
To become licensed as a Foster and/or Adoptive Family, you’ll participate in training, complete necessary paperwork and answer lots of questions as our team gets to know your family.
PCHAS is grateful for families like yours who enter the world of children who need the safety and love of a family. We see God’s healing and growth in the lives of kids every day because of the power of connected and trusting relationships. We can’t wait to see what’s in store for you and for the lives you’ll touch.
Whether you're ready to take that first step or not quite sure, connect with a PCHAS Foster Care & Adoption Guide! We're ready to help with the honest answers you deserve for all your questions. Call 281-324-0544 or email fosteradopt@pchas.org today!
