A Calling to Care

For Adam and Hannah, the journey toward foster care began with a sense of calling. As parents of two young children, they found themselves asking whether their family was complete. Hannah remembers, “I had this moment where I felt we were supposed to adopt. When I shared that with Adam, he had already been thinking about it.”

What started as a conversation about adoption quickly opened their eyes to the urgent need in foster care. With encouragement from friends and their church community, they attended an information session and realized the significant need for families willing to foster. “We weren’t just interested in adoption for ourselves,” Adam said. “We wanted to respond to the need.”

Adam and Hannah connected with Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services (PCHAS), where they began the foster parent training process.

Why PCHAS Stood Out

From the beginning, Adam and Hannah noticed something different about PCHAS. The training was professional, trauma-informed, and rooted in compassion. “The staff had a real heart for what they were teaching,” Hannah said. “It wasn’t just information. They cared deeply, and that made us passionate too.”

Even after moving to another state, the couple often reflected on their experience with PCHAS. While other agencies do important work, they found that PCHAS offered holistic care, professionalism, and resources that set it apart.

A Commitment to Give Back

Having fostered themselves, Adam and Hannah understand the challenges foster families face: the emotional weight, the potential for burnout, and the need for ongoing support. That experience now fuels their giving.

“Foster care isn’t glamorous,” Adam said. “It takes so many resources to support even one family. That’s why it needs extra attention. We give because we know how much it takes to make this work sustainable.”

For Adam and Hannah, their support is not only about helping individual children but also about strengthening entire communities. They see it as an act of faith and responsibility. It is about breaking cycles, building stability, and ensuring that both children and families have what they need to thrive.

The Impact of Donors

When asked what they hope donations accomplish, Hannah was clear: “Resources prevent kids from bouncing from home to home. They help foster families stay strong, and they give staff the support they need to keep doing this hard work.”

Adam added that donor support fills the gap between what state funding provides and what children and families truly need. “There’s no way an agency could do this well without donors stepping in. It takes a community.”

A Message of Gratitude

Both Adam and Hannah expressed deep gratitude to the PCHAS staff and to everyone who supports foster children. “We want the staff to know their sacrifice is seen…it is deeply meaningful,” Adam said.

For Adam and Hannah, giving to PCHAS is about more than charity. It is about faith in action, community responsibility, and hope for the future.
