PCHAS Program Director for Foster Care and Adoption in Houston, Michelle Hoevker, and Senior Development Officer Allison Harris recently stopped by Eye on Houston to discuss how PCHAS is impacting the community. Last year in Harris County, approximately 1,800 children were removed from their homes for abuse and neglect. Foster and adoptive families are always needed to provide loving homes to these children. “It’s really important to understand that these kids come from hard places and tough circumstances,” said Michelle. “We help families see that kids are resilient as well. Kids are really, really capable of healing.” With proper training and support from PCHAS staff, foster and adoptive parents are prepared to love hurting children.
