Volunteer Appreciation Week

During National Volunteer Appreciation Week, April 16-22, we want to thank all the wonderful PCHAS volunteers who help us. Some participate as individuals while others are in corporate groups or church groups. Here are just a few examples of ways that volunteers have contributed their time and talents over the past year.

Volunteers from Covenant Presbyterian Church served the families at our San Antonio Campus a wonderful BBQ meal during our annual Back to School Bash. Children also received back-to-school supplies donated by church members. Across the PCHAS service area, in Missouri, Texas and Louisiana, many others helped the children we serve start the new year prepared. 

Pictured below are two volunteers who made Christmas special for the children and families in our care. Jo Van Oosterhout and Lynne Payne of Ridglea Presbyterian Church (Ft. Worth) coordinated a Christmas stocking program for the children at our Foster Care Village in Itasca. 

More recently, moms in our Single Parent Family program attended a life skills class while their children were entertained by volunteers. The children enjoyed painting and other fun activities. The commitment of our volunteers allows moms to attend classes worry-free, knowing their children are safe and having fun. 

We must make a special mention of Patti Nanney from Spring Branch Presbyterian in the Houston area. She is active in Diaper and Wipes Drives, stuffing Back-to-School backpacks and fulfilling Angel Tree wish lists. She is an organizational wizard when it comes to coordinating tables for our annual luncheon and lends guidance to her fellow table hosts. Patti's energy is infectious as she works tirelessly for our children and families and her congregation. We are so lucky to have her on our team.

A small but joyful army of volunteers assist in our other programs, too.
