On September 6th, PCHAS President Dr. Ed Knight was honored with a lifetime achievement award from the Coalition of Residential Excellence (CORE) at their annual meeting in Tampa, Florida. Throughout his long career, Knight has exemplified the PCHAS philosophy of care by ensuring family-centered, strength-focused, and goal-driven services for children are the focus of all operations at PCHAS.

The award is the first of its kind from CORE, which regularly honors teachers, students, and industry leaders within the residential care community. “I am grateful to my peers for finding me worthy of this distinction,” says Dr. Knight, who will be retiring at the end of this year.

PCHAS collaborates with more than 30 organizational members of CORE to deliver high-quality services for children and youth. That coalition operates a data-based framework of standards and processes to engage and motivate residential programs.  As the leader of PCHAS, Dr. Knight has dedicated his career to those standards and to nurturing programs that deliver Christ-centered care to children and families in need.

Ever humbled by his role in this mission, Dr. Knight considers the meaning of the CORE award particularly touching. “I was honored that the nomination for this award originated within my staff,” he says. “It’s special because they value my strengths above my faults.”
