Church Engagement Specialist

Dallas/Fort Worth

Core Responsibilities:

Responsible for planning and executing comprehensive Church Engagement initiatives within churches, and other settings, as appropriate, including strategic planning, marketing, and communications.

Identify, network, build relationships, solicit, develop and establish church collaborations for the implementation of Church Engagement initiatives and recruitment of foster and adoptive families.

Solicits, tracks, and monitors relationships thru on-sight visits, email, correspondence, and phone calls with interested collaborating churches, networks, organizational partners and referrals sources and documents all efforts using agency software.       

Speak publicly and persuasively in church and community presentations to promote Church Engagement initiatives and PCHAS programs.  

Develop, plan, organize, prepare, schedule and conduct/facilitate local activities, including awareness and recruitment events, to mobilize and train churches related to Church Engagement initiatives.

Assist with developing, planning, organizing, preparing and conducting trainings for churches related to Church Engagement initiatives and PCHAS programs.

Provide regular, ongoing customer service for churches involved with Church Engagement, including implementation and trouble shooting.

Assist in the development of marketing, public relations, internet blogging, and website content.

Manage local awareness campaigns in collaboration with marketing team that leverages word-of-mouth, referrals, community presentations and testimonials to attract parents to foster and/or adopt its PCHAS.

Evaluate recruitment initiatives and make changes as necessary.

Provide assistance, as requested, to prepare annual operating and capital budgets for area of responsibility.

Assist in special events.

Identify opportunities to convey the mission of PCHAS to the local church and extended church community.

Schedule, coordinate, and represent the agency and program in a professional manner at a variety of recruitment events and venues to market and network with others regarding agency services.

Build collaborative relationships and serve as liaison with selected agencies, churches, community stakeholders and potential program collaborators with the goal of recruiting qualified prospective foster/adoptive families.

Perform any other job related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Position Requirements, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Mission focused and passionate about churches providing hope and healing to children and families.

Understanding of PCHAS philosophy of care as expressed in the PCHAS Way.

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and experience in church and/or non-profit community relations.  Master’s degree preferred with coursework in human services and church work.

Strong documentation, organization, planning, and time management skills.

Ability to effectively conduct training, communicate on panel discussions, and to make persuasive professional presentations at community events and to churches.

Communicates effectively and tactfully with all levels of stakeholders and personnel, expressing thoughts, feelings, and ideas in a clear, concise and compelling manner in both individual and group situations; actively listening to others; adjusting style to capture the attention of the audience.

Requires ability to effectively work under pressure with frequent interruptions and remain flexible as priorities change; able to maintain calm and professional demeanor under pressure and crisis conditions; working conditions may be high energy, high stress; the position may experience verbal and/or physical aggression from client population.

Requires ability to drive assigned Vehicles(s), with appropriate state license, following all laws applicable; must be eligible to be insured under PCHAS insurance policy. Must be age 21 or older to drive on behalf of PCHAS and must be age 18 or older to be employed with PCHAS.

Requires proficiency in the use of various office software programs, including, but not limited to, word processing, spread sheets, desktop publishing and graphics.

Working Conditions:

Church Engagement Specialist will work from designated office space in the Dallas/Fort Worth area as directed by the Director of Church Engagement.  Church Engagement activities are carried out in a variety of settings, including office, community, church, home, and other locations.  Church Engagement Specialist will be required to work an average of eight hours per day; some flexibility during the daily schedule will be necessary in order to provide maximum service delivery to churches and community organizations.  Extended hours to include evening hours and weekends, as needed, are required to complete job duties.  Requires ability to travel with some overnight stays expected.  Church Engagement Specialist will be provided a computer and cell phone or cell phone reimbursement in order to perform their work.  Computer stations and office equipment are provided.   Director will need to have the ability to work in a high energy environment both at the office, in the community, and in the foster care and adoption environment.  On call hours are routine.  There is moderate risk of exposure to infectious disease, and physical or verbal aggression from children or foster and adoptive parents, who may be occasionally present during the course of work.  There is a need to lift, move and/or transport Church Engagement materials on occasion that may weigh up to 40 lbs.
