Foster Care Case Management

Missouri

Medicalcare Casemanagement

In partnership with the Missouri Baptist Children's Home and Cornerstones of Care, PCHAS places children in loving foster homes and supervises their continued care to permanency.

At Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services, we care deeply about the many children referred to our care every month. We quickly surround them with love and support, focusing all of our professional resources on their healing process.

Our goal is to secure permanent homes for children. When possible, we reunite families. When that is not possible, PCHAS works within the state’s foster care network to provide both emergency and long-term placement solutions for children. Considering the best interest of the child, we strive to place siblings together in a relative/kinship placement whenever safe and appropriate. Ages range from infancy to 17 at the time of admission.

PCHAS case managers work with foster parents to give children stability and healing. We structure our therapeutic services to help children and parents cope with social and emotional difficulties, developmental delays, learning problems and behavioral challenges.

Schools require physicals and immunizations, but emotional issues and legal procedures for children in special circumstances may delay those appointments. In fact, the timing of a new placement for a child in foster care can mean missing a dental check-up or a vision or hearing screening.

Generally, medical needs are in the scope of a foster care case manager, and that is true in Texas and most of Missouri. In St. Louis, however, PCHAS has a medical case manager who works in tandem with case managers and foster parents to ensure that exams occur on schedule. The medical case manager also tracks medical records, transports children to appointments and enters exam results in a state database.
