Spring is a time for new beginnings and growth. It can also be an excellent time to focus on mental wellness. Here are seven tips to help you make the most of the season.

Get Outside: Embrace the longer daylight hours and warmer weather by immersing yourself in nature. Outdoor activities' rejuvenating effects can increase endorphin and dopamine levels, boosting your feelings of vitality and motivation.

Practice Self-Care:  Prioritize yourself and your well-being. Self-care is not a luxury; it is a necessity. Walking, stargazing, practicing gratitude, or napping in a hammock are ways to show yourself some love and recharge.

Engage in Physical Activity: Exercise is good for physical and mental health. Consider activities like hiking, biking, gardening, or outdoor yoga to stay active and enjoy the spring weather. Physical activity can improve your sleep quality and your overall mood.

Connect with Others: Spring weather can be great for outdoor activities and social gatherings. Whether it is a picnic in the park or a barbecue in the backyard, take advantage of the opportunity to spend time outside with friends and family.

Get Creative: Spring’s vibrant colors and new growth inspire creativity. Try gardening, painting, photography, or any other creative pursuit that brings you joy. Being creative can reduce stress and boost brain functioning.

Practice Mindfulness: Practice mindfulness and being present in the moment. Try outdoor meditation or take several minutes daily to appreciate spring’s sights, sounds, and smells. A PCHAS Therapist can help you create a plan to increase your mindfulness with your interests and goals in mind.

Set Goals: Spring is a prime time to set goals. Whether starting a new hobby, getting organized, or focusing on personal development, harness the energy of the season to propel yourself forward. The sense of accomplishment from setting and achieving goals can empower you and bring a fresh perspective, a sense of purpose and direction. Start with small, achievable goals to feel successful, then push yourself towards larger ones.
