If you’ve ever thought about fostering or adopting – and there’s a good chance that you have – you probably pictured an infant or toddler. It’s only natural to think of children at such a vulnerable age. What we imagine, though, isn’t always a perfect match to reality. Little ones aren’t the only children in need of foster and adoptive families. In fact, the kids most in need of great families are school-aged kids, sibling groups and Black and Hispanic children.

When families aren’t available, we see children separated from their siblings, older children sleeping in offices, and young adults aging out without strong family connections. The Texas foster care system is experiencing a crisis because there is a shortage of foster families.

At PCHAS, we’re focused on meeting the needs that exist in the communities we serve. That means our staff are constantly working to connect with families who are open to fostering sibling groups, kids age 6 and older, and children of color. Kids in our state need families like you to take the first step. A PCHAS Foster Care & Adoption Guide will be glad to answer all of your questions and walk you through the process. Sign up for an Online Info Session today or connect with us at 281-324-0544 or fosteradopt@pchas.org. You can be family for children who need one.
