Bike 1K For PCHAS: David Brenner

Sep 06, 2017 - Why I Volunteer

David Brenner began riding in 2016. His father had recently passed away due to complications from alcholism, and he wanted to keep his body in good working condition. Over time, biking became more to him than the health benefits. He's discovered that biking gives him space to think about things not only going on in his life, but in others' as well. He quickly realized that he wanted to be more than just another guy riding a bike; his purpose for riding has to be bigger than himself to be worthwhile.

The road David and his fellow PCHAS riders, Rick and Jared, will travel is rough, but it has a definite finish. Many of the children Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services (PCHAS) serve have a much rougher road in life and can't imagine the end of their troubles, which is what motivates David. "Every mile we put behind us means we've earned your generous donations for these children and their families," said David.

David starts the Race Across Texas, a 1,000 mile race that spans from Texarkana, Texas to Tucumcari, New Mexico and features 90% dirt/gravel roads and approximately 25,000 feet of climbing, on Saturday, September 9th. You can track his ride at www.tinyurl.com/DavidBrennerTracker. If you would like to sponsor David, visit https://giving.pchas.org/Bike1KforPCHAS.
