What We Do: Advanced Education/Aftercare
As children reach 18 years of age, they “age out” of our care. Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services provides aftercare assistance that includes guidance and support for these young adults as they transition into independent living. Referrals can be made to the area Child and Family Program for additional family support and individual counseling.
Through Advanced Education, PCHAS also provides young people who formerly were in our care with the opportunity to attend college, university or trade/technical school.
Career counseling establishes educational objectives and helps youth select the best university, college or technical school to reach their goals. Staff assists the students in submitting applications to educational institutions, applying for financial grants and securing housing.
In addition to the grants and scholarships each student qualifies for on their own, PCHAS provides funding for room, board, tuition, books and other expenses. Each student must maintain eligibility in the program by earning a grade of C or better.
