Our Programs: Waxahachie

The Waxahachie campus, our largest, got its start in 1960 when our ministry moved south from Dallas. Today, the Waxahachie campus is comprised of ten homes that each serves up to six children between the ages of 5 and 17. Our trained staff serve as parents to provide a nurturing environment for children to practice positive behaviors and healthy family relationships.

Our kids receive spiritual guidance and Christian nurture through prayer, Bible study, and participation in the worship and life of Central Presbyterian Church in Waxahachie. They attend local schools and receive daily supervised study time and specialized tutoring as needed. Some have part-time jobs, others participate in extracurricular activities and many attend church camp.

In 2009, PCHAS entered into a strategic alliance with Methodist Children’s Home (MCH) to expand the services we offer to at-risk youth and their families. MCH operates several “structured homes” on our Waxahachie campus, which provide care with 24-hour awake staff to children with more intensive needs.

The Waxahachie campus also is home to the Bridgehouse program, designed to support families by helping them set goals, discover their strengths and learn how to build on them.

In addition, our Foster Care Program is headquartered on the Waxahachie campus. Children in Foster Care reside in the private neighborhood homes of our trained and certified foster parents. They attend public school, receive spiritual guidance and Christian nurture, and are able to receive individual and family counseling services as needed. We currently have foster homes in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, Wichita Falls and Longview.
