Our Programs: Single Parent Family Program

The Single Parent Family (SPF) Program is designed to help single mothers who are facing homelessness due to poverty, abuse, divorce, incarceration, abandonment, violence or another crisis. Families in the SPF program live in a transitional residential home located in Weatherford, Texas.

The Single Parent Family Program can serve 3 to 4 families at any one time. We help single female parents who are facing homelessness for a variety of reasons. Program services are also available for families living in the community that may need the same services without the residential care. Women must be at least 18 years old and have at least one child to participate in the program.

How We Help
Families in the program can expect to stay for 6 to 12 months, depending on their progress and unique circumstances. The SPF director and caseworker work with families to address their physical, emotional, social, educational, spiritual and financial concerns. All program services focus on the goal of self-sufficiency for each family.

Each mother is provided employment assistance upon starting the program. Daycare and after-school care may be provided for the first eight weeks. As part of the SPF program, each family receives:

  • A safe, smoke, drug and alcohol-free living environment
  • Individual counseling, case management and therapy for mothers and children
  • Educational, vocational and employment resources, as well as help choosing a future career
  • Assistance with TANF, food stamps, child support, health insurance, money management and life skills
  • Parenting, wellness and nutrition classes
  • Family recreational activities
  • Continued support after leaving through PCHAS’ Weatherford Child and Family Program.
