Our Programs: San Antonio
In 1976, PCHAS established “Nuestra Casa,” a group home for boys ages 12 to 18 in San Antonio. A few years later, we moved to the current campus location on Whitby Road, and a girls home opened on the campus in 1993.
In all of our group homes, staff serve as parents to provide a nurturing environment for children to practice positive behaviors and healthy family relationships. Our kids receive spiritual guidance and Christian nurture through prayer, Bible study, and participation in the worship and life of local Presbyterian Church (USA) congregations. They also attend local schools and receive daily supervised study time and specialized tutoring as needed. Some have part-time jobs, others participate in extracurricular activities and many attend church camp.
In 2007, we established the San Antonio Child & Family Program to provide outreach services to families in crisis. Based at the Mission Presbytery offices, Child and Family Specialist Jennifer Leos helps families deal with issues such as divorce, violence and substance abuse as they work to stay together.
