STATEMENT ON PLACEMENT

OF FLDS CHILDREN

AUSTIN, Texas – In keeping with a century-long tradition of caring for children in need, Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services has agreed to accept 14 children from the Eldorado FLDS sect on its Waxahachie campus.

The following is a statement from PCHAS President Ed Knight:

“It is unclear when the children will be arriving, and at this time we do not know any details about the children, including gender or age. Once the children arrive and we are able to assess their individual and collective needs, then we will be able to better work out the details of their daily care.

“For 105 years now, we have been opening our doors to children who have experienced some sort of trauma, whether physical, sexual or emotional. Whatever these children have been through, this is a traumatic time for them, and we have competent, professional staff on hand who have experience with children from special circumstances. While this is clearly a unique situation, I’m confident in this agency’s ability to provide the same high level of care we have for more than a century.”

For more than 100 years, Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services has been providing Christ-centered services to children in need and their families. PCHAS is a 501(c)3 public charity that is committed to fulfilling its mission regardless of race, gender, religion, national origin or financial resources.
