Our Programs: Kilgore

The Kilgore Child & Family Program was established in 2003. Housed at First Presbyterian Church, this program is designed to preserve families facing a crisis that threatens their security and well being.

In Kilgore, Supervisor Sheila Arnold and Specialist Sondra Edwards visit families in their own homes to assess the situation and identify challenges and needs. They then help the family develop an action plan that incorporates their strengths and uses existing community services to help them stay together.

Child & Family Program services include:
- developing goals to stabilize families, promote change and instill hope
- building parenting and life skills
- offering family and individual counseling.

The Kilgore Child & Family Program is part of a strong network of community agencies who hold a school supply drive every year, distributing backpacks full of supplies for kids of all ages. They also sponsor a “Christmas Store” each year, which allows parents in need to provide Christmas gifts for their children.
