Limited Contact Volunteers
Volunteers also serve the needs of children and families by working with PCHAS staff in areas where there is limited contact with the people we serve.
Groups may participate in the mission of PCHAS by performing needed services at PCHAS sites and locations. Such groups will be related to a recognized organization with established policies and procedures related to membership, purpose and mission. Groups interested in providing such services may look for opportunities posted on the PCHAS web site or call the PCHAS Volunteer Ministries Coordinator directly to inquire about opportunities at 512-476-1234.
Ambassadors are volunteer representatives of PCHAS in the churches and communities where they live and serve. They are expected to participate in a week-end retreat at which they are educated about PCHAS, its mission, its work and the people it serves. The PCHAS programs are varied and diverse, in types and location. As a result, telling the PCHAS story and the story of the children and families we serve takes thought and time, as well as practice.
The Ambassador’s role is to be an advocate for children and the work of PCHAS. Ambassadors do that by bringing the PCHAS story to their churches. As an Ambassador, you will have the opportunity to recruit your church’s leadership and pave the way for other committees and interested groups in your church to learn about PCHAS and the needs of children and families in your church and community.
By becoming an Ambassador you will work with PCHAS staff to increase awareness of the PCHAS ministry and programs and have the opportunity to implement programs within your own congregation to help further the mission of providing Christ-centered services to children in need and their families.
Ambassadors are supported by the PCHAS Development Team and supervised by the PCHAS Development Officer assigned to the location in which they live.
Administrative Volunteers
PCHAS often is in need of administrative assistance from volunteers. At the Central Office in Austin, Texas, PCHAS produces newsletters and mailings throughout the year. Help is needed to stuff envelopes, alphabetize files, make copies, enter computer data, and other office tasks. Administrative Offices in other locations may need help with similar tasks.
Administrative Volunteers at the Central Office do not have to be tested for TB, which any volunteer with contact with children must undergo. Since volunteers in Administrative Offices at other locations are likely to come into contact with children, TB testing is required. We also offer training to Administrative Volunteers who work in Child and Family Programs to instruct them in how to work with children and families with whom they may have relationships.
