Our Programs: Group Homes

Presbyterian Children's Homes and Services operates 19 group homes in five Texas locations:

  • Austin – 6 boys and 6 girls
  • Itasca – 16 boys and 16 girls
  • San Antonio – 8 boys and 8 girls
  • Waxahachie & Duncanville – 66 beds, boys and girls

Our homes are just like any big family’s – busy! Each home serves 6-8 children between the ages of 5 and 17. Our trained staff serve as parents to provide a nurturing environment for children to practice positive behaviors and healthy family relationships.

Children receive spiritual guidance and Christian nurture through prayer, Bible study, and participation in the worship and life of local Presbyterian Church (USA) congregations.

Our kids also attend local schools and receive daily supervised study time and specialized tutoring as needed. Some have part-time jobs, others participate in extracurricular activities and many attend church camp.

In addition, PCHAS provides youth in care with counseling to help them overcome the traumas they have faced in their young lives.

PCHAS is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. The Waxahachie Group Home Program is a Certified Teaching-Family Site and member of the Teaching-Family Association. PCHAS does not take legal custody of any children in care; placements are voluntary and can be terminated by the parent, legal guardian or agency.
