Getting Help: Family Services

Children come into our care and families need our help for a variety of reasons.

Sometimes parents need relief from or help with the pressures of parenting so they can deal with issues interfering with the family. These issues may include:

  • divorce
  • parent or family illness
  • physical or emotional disability
  • death in the family
  • parental incarceration
  • financial hardship
  • homelessness
  • parental alcohol or drug dependency

Some of the children we serve have been victims of sexual, physical, or emotional abuse or physical neglect or abandonment. Still others need to be placed in our homes because of child/family conflict, behavioral issues, or foster home or adoption breakdown.

Grandparents who have become “parents” to their grandchildren often need help raising them. When grandparents have this responsibility but not the health and/or resources to do so, we can provide a stable home environment while fostering healthy grandparent/grandchild relationships.

Single parents sometimes need help getting on their feet while caring for a family. Our Single Parent Family Program offers transitional support to single mothers and their children with a focus on discovering their strengths to become self-sufficient.
