Tutor (Itasca)
The remedial teacher/tutor will provide individual or small group instruction to students in an after-school tutoring program at Presbyterian Children’s Home’s and Services campuses.
Essential Job Functions:
- Assist with remedial instruction in the math and science areas.
- Meet regularly (Tuesdays and Thursdays) and keep a specific time commitment with the learner.
- Help plan the course of study with their supervisor or designee.
- Provide frequent praise and positive reinforcement to show appreciation for the learners’ efforts and achievement.
Working Conditions:
- Works within an educational setting on the Itasca campus in the Maxwell-McLean Education Building.
- Uses common educational supplies and machines in the usual course of duties.
- Work schedule includes evenings, during summers, and some daytime hours.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of two years previous experience with children preferred.
- At least two years post-high school advanced education.
- Bachelor's degree in education or a field of study eligible for teacher certification in Texas and certified/certifiable as a teacher preferred.
Skills:
- Good organizational and time management skills required.
- Must have strong interpersonal skills.
- Must be computer literate and able to operate word processing, educational, and database software within three months of hiring.
