Foster Care Case Manager (Corsicana)
Position Summary:
The Foster Care Case Manager is responsible for guiding, teaching and assisting foster parents in caring for the children placed in their homes by the agency. The position includes working closely with case workers from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services to coordinate services for each child and support foster parents in their role as care givers. The caseworker typically works with six to seven foster families and up to 25 foster children.
Essential Job Functions:
- Conduct home studies for prospective or verified families, including interviews, assessments, research and report writing.
- Provide case management services for all assigned clients.
- Provide leadership to the treatment team, working closely with the foster parents, teachers, therapists, CPS caseworkers, birth family and others to implement successful treatment for each client.
- Maintains accurate documentation of client’s records.
Job Requirements:
- A Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited university is preferred, with one year paid experience working with children and families at-risk, or a Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in a human services profession with three years of working with children or families at risk or children in out-of-home care.
- Must have valid Texas Driver’s license, proof of insurance for the vehicle used in work-related travel, and a dependable vehicle.
Skills:
- Must be a a self-starter who can work with minimal supervision.
- Must be organized and able to prioritize to complete projects in a timely manner.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Must have adequate knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Excel and Internet Explorer.
- Must be able to supervise others in order to achieve maximum client success.
