Child and Family Specialist

(Two positions - Fort Worth and Temple)

The goal of our Child & Family Program is to address issues before a crisis results in out-of-home placement of children. The Child & Family Specialist will receive referrals (from area agencies, churches, and individuals) and work with families to reach their goals.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assess community needs and available services for families in need in the local area.
  • Make home visits to determine needs of individuals and families for service.
  • Assist in the placement of children in PCHAS facilities, support families while their children are in care, help prepare family for the child's return, and provide aftercare.
  • Publicize PCHAS' presence and serve as professional liaison to area social service agencies.
  • Work with local Presbyterian churches in program promotion, recruitment of volunteers, and development.
  • Perform other and/or special tasks as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Licensed social worker with a master of social work degree or its equivalent
  • Active member of a Christian church
  • A minimum of 3 years experience working with children and adolescents, preferably in a substitute care setting
  • Clinical experience with children and families preferred
  • Experience working in a child-placing agency with knowledge of state licensing requirements in foster care and group foster care
  • Extensive knowledge of local area social services.

Skills:

  • A good listener and a good communicator both verbally and in writing
  • Experience or discernible high aptitude in working with Presbyterian Church groups
  • Bilingual preferred.
