Family Teachers (Waxahachie)

Position Summary:

Family Teachers are a married couple who serve as foster parents to children in our care. Family Teachers are responsible for implementing the Teaching Family Model within the foster group home setting and coordinating services to each individual child and family.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide 24-hour, 7-day-a-week coverage for children placed in a foster group home for extended periods of time.
  • Receive extensive training in the implementation of the Teaching Family Model treatment.
  • Apply training to implement treatment strategies and comprehensive care for children with other members of the treatment team.
  • Actively engage in the activities associated with applied behaviors analysis and individualized treatment strategies.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be able to live in a licensed foster group home as a married couple in the role of foster parents.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Human Services field from an accredited college or university is preferred.
  • A minimum of a high school diploma is required, plus one or more years of experience working with children or youth.
  • Both members of the Teaching Couple must be at least 21 years of age.

Skills:

  • Must be well organized.
  • Must be able to prioritize and be accountable for timelines.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have knowledge of computer programs.
  • Must be able to work with others as a treatment team.
